The Giants of the Past - A lost City by flaviobolla The Giants of the Past - A lost City by flaviobolla
Personal piece of work, combining 3d-, textures- and many hours of painting-techniques together. The approach is still pretty new to me, but a lot of fun.
Before I forget: This work has nothing to do with the Last of Us, even if the mood might feel similar.
Except for the used textures, everything is completely done from imagination.

Thanks for taking a look!

Your whole gallery was a complete and pleasant surprise.  The intricate detail in each rendering creates so much interest.  Your eyes dart back and forth trying to see it all, trying not to miss many of subtleties.  Big thumbs up!

I like this, reminds me of Coppelion. In my head, the three girls are somewhere in the painting, just walking around looking for survivors...

Hey, can I use this for a game I'm designing currently called Extinction? It's a time travel game and this would great for the city being abandoned in the future.

And thus we bear witness to the fallen glory of Humanity, and pray our future descendants need not walk among the ruins of their forefathers.

I dont see where it resembles "The last of us" which is more based around 2013 timeline this is more late 21st early 22nd Century. Possibly "Enslaved" but nice concept all the same.

Looks like a current-era Fallout world.  Minus Humanity's survival, that is.  Since the plant life is taking over.

the idea reminds me of Earth Girl (great book btw, its a utopia sort-of) In the book, new York was a monitored ruin full of rusting buildings, and long-burried chemical waste, with nature coming in to reclaim it. nice!

Very nice artwork.

Uhm... it was a human city.... When I read "Giants of the past" I imagine it was about The Great Old Race, the Yithian, that can be read on "The Shadow Out of Time" from H.P. Lovecraft ;)

Good work! I think there is the connection that could be made from the city given in to nature's forces that makes it look a bit like the "last of us", still, it looks great nonetheless and would look great even if the said game didn't exist :)

It's cool. Normally, when we think of 'lost' or derelict cities of fallen civilisations, we think of aliens or maybe ourselves in the far future. To see our current, comfortably familiar world as something 'lost' is kind of powerfully cool AND sad.

I do not see this as a lost city, but a forgotten one, a city abandoned because of time, Chernobyl is what I am speaking in particular.   I do like the mix of 3D effects and painted scenes, it looks very well thought out  and blends so well, it even has graffiti on the exposed wall, but is the U.S. the mocking of, or wish to be part of is unknown. I do see the rust buckets on the broken bridge as well a highway that runs through it. An this is either pre, or post Chronoscape. :)
